Time it to the light, then subtract 90 minutes

Work backwards from sunset. Ceremony 90 minutes before, aperitivo through golden hour, dinner as the sky turns. Getting this wrong is the most common scheduling error at Ibiza weddings, and it is entirely avoidable.

Keep it short

Twelve to eighteen minutes. Two readings, not five. Guests have been standing in heat, and the atmosphere you want peaks early.

The sound problem

Outdoor ceremonies on the coast fight wind and sea noise. Lapel microphones for whoever is speaking, a discreet speaker at the back, and a rehearsal at the actual hour of day. Guests forgive almost anything except not hearing the vows.

Setting over decoration

An aisle between olive trees needs nothing added. If the backdrop is the sea, put nothing in front of it. The most photographed ceremonies on this island are the ones where the couple resisted building an arch.
