Sofia & Marc, a finca wedding in San Lorenzo
Ninety guests, one olive tree, no plan for the evening
A late-September wedding in the green centre of the island: family-style dinner under the olives and a party that ran until the generator gave up.

The brief
Sofia and Marc live in Amsterdam and had been coming to Ibiza for eight years. They wanted the island they knew — the countryside, not the coast — and a day that felt like a very long dinner with the people they liked most.
The day
The ceremony was at six under a 400-year-old olive tree, with eleven minutes of speaking and no music. Aperitivo ran for two hours in the courtyard while the light went orange. Dinner was served family-style at three long tables, and nobody sat down again after the second course.
"We had a schedule until about nine. After that we stopped looking at it, and that was the best decision of the whole year." — Sofia
The details
- Venue — a working finca near San Lorenzo
- Guests — 92, arriving across four days
- Palette — chalk, terracotta, olive
- Flowers — entirely local, cut two days before
- Food — grilled fish, whole vegetables, almond cake
What they would change
Nothing about the wedding. One thing about the week: they would have built in a day where they saw nobody at all.
